PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
2018 - The project comprised of the redesign of the Eastern side of the National Museum plot over an area of 50,000m2 as part of the reconceptualization adn upgrade of the Museum services and exihbition space. The National Museum includes the consolidation of collections from a wide array of small and regional museums in order to be able to present a consolidated history of Saudi Arabia. Themed experiential galleries, integrating innovative and traditional exhibit and information technologies trace the dynamics of the “living earth” through the ages of civilizations to the birth of Islam and the role of modern-day Saudi Arabia as the guardian of its holy places.
The design of the park comes as a complementary to the Museum experience and acts as a teaser to the visitors. The landscape design consists of series of spaces that represent fingerprints of different cultural aspects from science, nature, arts and technologies. The park includes outdoor exhibitions, science playground, and open amphitheater. The design also focuses connecting the museum entrance with the metro station through a spine featuring art work and shops. The planting scheme features native and adaptive
