Construction works – Khorfakkan Amphitheatre complete
A prominent artistic addition to the cultural landmarks in the emirate of Sharjah, the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre was inaugurated by the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, who attended the first screening of the historical cinematic epic, “Khorfakkan”.
The Wife of HH the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi; and the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi were also present at the inauguration.
HH Dr Sheikh Sultan toured the amphitheatre, inspecting its facilities and services, while listening to a detailed explanation about its design and stages of construction from the adviser to the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey, Eng Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi.
The Sharjah Ruler also inaugurated the waterfall concrete building that was built from the rocky nature of the city, overlooking the Khorfakkan Corniche.

Construction works on the Khorfakkan amphitheater – which is the largest development project in the city – have been completed, and the building located at the foot of “Al Sayed” mountain facing the beach in Khorfakkan city has been inaugurated.
The amphitheater was built on a total area of 17,652m2, taking into consideration the needs for the latest technology in lighting and acoustics.
The structure has been designed to accommodate 3,600 individuals, and includes a cooling system that ensures energy efficiency throughout the year.
The amphitheater contains a distinctive lobby with accompanying services, covering a total area of 6,968m2. The lobby is equipped with six main elevators, divided into two entrances with three elevators for each entrance. The amphitheater also accommodates people with special needs.
Located 43m above sea level, the waterfall concrete building was constructed 45m long and 11m wide, consisting of a number of windows through which visitors can view the waterfall sloping from the top of the cave above to the bottom of the mountain.
The waterfall concrete building also gives a panoramic view of the Khorfakkan beach, and contains a restaurant and café that can accommodate more than 80 visitors. It also includes an outdoor site that can accommodate more than 30 visitors, in addition to a service room, and other facilities.
The waterfall concrete building is linked to the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre by elevators and a walkway, according to the state-run news agency, Wam.
